Scottish Wave, Tidal Research Project Gets GBP 1 M...

The three year EcoWatt2050 project, is coordinated by the Marine Alliance for Science and Technology for Scotland (MASTS) and funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). It will use computer models developed in an earlier TeraWatt study to simulate the effects of extracting energy using wave and tidal renewable energy devices on the marine environment.

The Crown Estate, manager of the UK seabed, has agreed 11 new leasing deals to further open up the country’s waters to match the increasing demand from the renewable energy market.

On January 1st 2014, Greece took on the role of President of the European Union for the fifth time since its inclusion in the EU in 1981. It has outlined four thematic priorities for this presidency including EU maritime policy. The aim of this priority involves the redefinition of maritime policy with the inclusion of all relevant aspects of maritime policy.

On Thursday, 28 May participants from the REMCAP project will participate in a workshop entitled, 'Expanding Blue Growth around Ports and Facilities'. The workshop will take place from 11:00 to 12:30 and will be located in MC2.

European Maritime Days - Greece...

The European Maritime Day 2015 Piraeus celebrations will kick off on May 28 with a conference focusing on ports and coasts as engines for Blue Growth. The country’s largest port will also celebrate its maritime community and tradition with high-level sessions and workshops, an exhibition and happenings throughout the city.
